SWUYN Declares March 6th National Day for Unemployed Youths

Abuja, Nigeria – The Society for the Welfare of Unemployed Youths of Nigeria (SWUYN) has officially declared March 6th as the National Day for Unemployed Youths/SWUYN National Anniversary Week. This declaration was made by Comr. Preye V. Tambou, National President of SWUYN, through an official statement.

According to Comr. Tambou, the date was chosen through a democratic online poll involving the organization’s Board of Trustees, National Executive Council, Regional Chairmen, and State Chairmen. March 6th aligns with the International Day for the Unemployed, which received the highest votes in the poll.

Key Activities

– Peaceful March: A peaceful march with placards will be organized to draw media attention and project the cause to the international scene.

– Media Coverage: Extensive media coverage and interviews are anticipated, which will amplify the message and reach a broader audience.

– SWUYN Annual Anniversary Celebration: A special event featuring keynote speakers, cultural performances, and an awards ceremony to recognize members’ contributions.

Objectives

– Raise Awareness: Highlight unemployment challenges in Nigeria

– Promote SWUYN: Showcase the organization’s mandate and activities

– Advocate for Policies: Support policies benefiting unemployed youths

– Foster Solidarity: Unite SWUYN members and the general public

Comr. Tambou urges all members and supporters to participate actively in the planned activities, emphasizing that together, they can make a difference and bring attention to the plight of unemployed youths in Nigeria.

March 6th is indeed recognized as a notable day, aligning with other global celebrations. As per the 2026 calendar, March 6th is also observed as National Dentists Day and Employee Appreciation Day.

Let’s stand together to support our unemployed youths!
