SWUYN to Honour NDDC MD Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Director of Procurement Dr. Doodei Agbabou Week, Federal Regional Development Minister Engr. Abubakar Momoh, Prince Ebitimi Agbare and Others
The Society for the Welfare of Unemployed Youths of Nigeria (SWUYN) has announced that several distinguished public officials, development leaders, and youth advocates will be honoured during its 10th Anniversary and National Unemployed Youths Day Awards Ceremony scheduled to hold in Warri, Delta State.
Among those to be recognised are Samuel Ogbuku, Doodei Agbabou Week, Abubakar Momoh, and Prince Ebitimi Agbare alongside other prominent leaders whose efforts have contributed to youth empowerment, regional development, and social advocacy across Nigeria.
The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at De Ellis Event Centre, as part of the activities marking the organisation’s 10th Anniversary and National Unemployed Youths Day celebration under the theme “From Unemployment to Employment.”
According to SWUYN, the recognition of these leaders is aimed at appreciating individuals who have demonstrated commitment to youth development, economic empowerment, and policies that promote opportunities for young Nigerians.
The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Samuel Ogbuku, will be honoured for his leadership in advancing development initiatives and empowerment programmes across the Niger Delta region, particularly those that create opportunities for young people.
Similarly, Doodei Agbabou Week will be recognised for his role in strengthening institutional processes and supporting development-driven initiatives that contribute to youth-focused projects within the region.
The Federal Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, will also receive an award for his contributions to national development policies and programmes that aim to improve economic opportunities and infrastructure development across Nigeria’s regions.
In addition, Prince Ebitimi Agbare, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Basin Development Authority, will also be honoured for his leadership in promoting agricultural development, water resource management, and community-based projects that contribute to economic empowerment within the Niger Delta region.
Speaking ahead of the anniversary celebration, the National President of SWUYN, Comr. Preye V. Tambou, explained that the awards are designed to celebrate individuals whose leadership and commitment have positively impacted communities and empowered young Nigerians.
He noted that tackling unemployment requires collective responsibility and sustained collaboration between government institutions, development agencies, private sector organisations, and civil society groups.
“The challenges facing unemployed youths in Nigeria are significant, but so are the opportunities when leaders and institutions work together to create pathways for empowerment. These recognitions are meant to encourage continued support for initiatives that expand opportunities for young people,” he said.
The three-day anniversary programme of SWUYN, scheduled for March 10–12, 2026, will feature policy discussions, youth empowerment workshops, mentorship sessions, breakout engagements, and a national advocacy rally aimed at drawing attention to the urgent need for sustainable solutions to youth unemployment in Nigeria.
Participants are expected from across the country, including youth leaders, policymakers, development partners, and representatives from the private sector.
As SWUYN celebrates a decade of advocacy and youth-focused initiatives, the organisation reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising stakeholders and promoting programmes that will transform unemployed youths into productive contributors to Nigeria’s economic growth. 🇳🇬✨
