Press Release
Unlawful Arrest of Very Dark Man and C-Pack: A Gross Abuse of Power and Rascality Taken Too Far, Demanding Immediate Sack and Overhaul of EFCC Leadership
Office of the National President, Society for the Welfare of Unemployed Youths of Nigeria (SWUYN)
6th May, 2025
The Society for the Welfare of Unemployed Youths of Nigeria (SWUYN) strongly condemns the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) reckless and unlawful arrest of Martins Vincent Otse (Very Dark Man) and Steven Avuara (C-Pack). This blatant display of intimidation and abuse of power is unacceptable.
We demand answers: What prompted this action? Was due process followed? We call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene, investigate this matter, and take decisive action against the EFCC leadership, particularly Chairman Ola Olukoyede, if found guilty of misconduct.
We urge President Tinubu to be mindful of the EFCC’s recent actions, which are undermining democracy and bringing bad names to his government. If not addressed, these actions could tarnish the government’s reputation and lead to its downfall. We demand the immediate sack of Chairman Olukoyede to restore public trust and confidence.
The EFCC must respect citizens’ rights and operate within the law. We stand in solidarity with the affected individuals and demand justice.
