SWUYN COMMENDS FEDERAL MINISTER OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR FULFILLING HIS PROMISE TO EMPOWER UNEMPLOYED YOUTHS

23rd September, 2025 – Yenagoa, Bayelsa State

The Society for the Welfare of Unemployed Youths of Nigeria (SWUYN) has commended the Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, for keeping to his words and carrying our members along in the Ministry’s empowerment schemes.

Earlier this year, during our courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister in Abuja, he assured the leadership of SWUYN of his commitment to collaborate, empower, and integrate unemployed youths into the Ministry’s programmes. True to his promise, our members were recently shortlisted and invited to participate in the Ministry of Regional Development’s “Unskilling and Empowerment Training” in Bayelsa State, holding from Tuesday 23rd to Friday 26th September, 2025 at Tamara Hotel, Yenagoa.

On arrival for accreditation yesterday, our members were warmly received, accredited, and provided with customized training materials including branded caps, T-shirts, pens, and jointers inscribed with “Ministry of Regional Development, Unskilling and Empowerment Training, Bayelsa State 2025.” They were further briefed on the exciting training modules, which cover shoe making, bag making, and catering services. Participants are also to receive starter packs, lodging, three square meals daily, dinner, and transportation allowances for the duration of the programme.

Today, as the training formally commences, SWUYN expresses profound gratitude to the Honourable Minister for living up to his assurances and giving our members a platform to acquire practical skills and resources for self-reliance.

According to the National President of SWUYN, Comr. Preye V. Tambou, “This is a clear demonstration of the Honourable Minister’s sincerity and commitment to youth empowerment. We thank him for carrying our members along and for creating a platform where unemployed youths can be transformed into productive citizens through skill acquisition. We are optimistic that this training will not only empower our participants but also have a ripple effect across communities as they return to create jobs and opportunities for others.”

SWUYN remains committed to partnering with government agencies, ministries, and other stakeholders to deliver life-changing opportunities to unemployed youths across the country.
